We started Madeline on solid food right after we got home from vacation. She was showing signs of being ready to eat (grabbing food off our plates constantly) for a long time, so it was no surprise that she has been a very enthusiastic eater. Her first food was yam, followed by avocado (which she didn’t like the first day, but scarfed down the second day), then butternut squash, and now we’re on peas. This kid loves her some peas. Carrots will probably be next. Solid food has been great way to give her the biotin supplement, as its so much easier to just put it in food instead of mixing it with water and trying to use the syringe.
At first, feeding her was easy and relatively mess free. We just gave her two spoons and she played and ate. Now, she wants to grab the spoon you’re feeding her with and put it in her mouth and smear the food everywhere. I tried giving her one or two of her own spoons, but she’ll drop those the second she sees the food spoon coming.
Here are pictures from her first time eating “real” food
*her face looks amazing in these photos…the rash hadn’t eaten it yet *
The Before Shot
First Bite
Discovering the spoon, followed quickly by…
…learning how to steal it and feed herself
Two spoons are definitely better than one
From Nanny in Fairburn: Love to see how she is grasping her spoon and seems so eager to taste what it holds. Thanks, Lindsay.
ReplyDeleteCorine and Jillian: These are so adorable!!! Josh started on Avocado first, then the sweet potato next :) Loved using the foods we were eating and using the food mill. Sounds like you are doing the same (when convenient, of course!!)
ReplyDeleteJillian loves the pics, and sends hugs and kisses.
PS- She also looks too clean to have eaten in those pics :)
