5 months

I was looking back at pictures of her in the hospital and as a newborn. It seems simultaneously so far away and like it was just yesterday. One thing is for sure, she looks SO different. Its amazing how much she has changed. She weighs 15ish lbs by our scale and I think she has started growing wider instead of just longer. There is definitely some chub now.

What is new this month? Well, she can sit up unassisted for a short period of time. She doesn’t seem to like being in that position too long, but she is starting to stay that way more and more. She is still constantly on the move and I swear she is going to crawl so so soon. She gets up on her knees and elbows and hangs out there, but I don’t think she has figured out forward motion yet. She also lays on her side and supports herself on her forearm, like she is ready to push up to a sitting position. Mainly, she does her scoot/roll thing to get around, but it has gotten much more efficient.

She is into everything. Wires on the ground are her favorite and she will travel great distances across the floor to get to them. She also realizes when we’ve hid them under something and reaches her little hand under there to find them. She has discovered the DVR and PS3. She even crawled up to the PS3, pushed the bottom, ejected a game CD, and chewed on it. Everything goes in her mouth, still, especially her own fingers. She is really interested in the food on our plates now and will grab at the food and try to eat it. She wants to touch and hold everything. Granny Lynn bought her a jumper for Christmas and sent it early. Madeline LOVES it. Board books are a new favorite toy and she chews on them constantly.

She is still a pretty serious little baby, though she is laughing more and more often. Now, when she is being whiney and is crying just for attention or to get someone to come pick her up, and you actually do go pick her up, she’ll laugh. Sometimes I’ll cry back at her and she’ll stop crying and laugh. Such a manipulator. We still don’t have a schedule, but her wake up time seems to be between 7-8 AM  no matter what. Its naps we are struggling with. We have tried rice cereal a few times and she seems to like it, but I hate what it does to her poop and spit-up.

It is getting much harder to take her pictures by myself..she wont stay still for anything!
