Groton was an interesting month. It was a nice break from the real world but the close living quarters were definitely a challenge. Madeline had a twin air mattress on the floor and Derek and I shared the very tiny bed. Aside from the bed, we had a mini fridge, microwave, one sink, a dresser, a desk, one really uncomfortable regular chair, and one computer chair. Needless to say, it was cramped and not ideal, but it was nice to be together again after so long apart and it really gave us some much needed family time. I'm really happy we did it, especially with Derek gone for so long. Plus, it gave us the chance to do one last trip to NYC and to finally see Vermont, the last state we needed to see on the east coast.
We only had one car and had to wait for Derek to get back from school, which usually happened late afternoon. Then we would rush to the park to let the poor kid get her energy out. Unfortunately, it got dark and cold so early, that we didn't have a ton of time outside.
Madeline learned how to draw faces totally on her own and this was one of her first attempts. She also drew them with boogers in their nose, which she thought was hilarious.
We visited this awesome place a few times. It was an indoor playground and it was a life saver on days we couldn't play outside (which was more often than not). I wish there was one everywhere.
Wearing daddy's boots and eating in our "dining room"
Freezing on the whale outside the Children's museum. I tried my best to pack warm clothes, but she was always a little under dressed.
Playing in the leaves for the last time. Sadly they were mostly off the trees, but she loved playing and walking in them.
Most nights involved Madeline wearing her headlight, using her flashlight, putting every toy and book in her bed, and attempting to get in our bed over and over
Our luxury accommodations on the day we were leaving. You can see how great Derek was feeling.
