Usually the parade is a bunch of different people who are competing to win the best float. This year a bunch of them were centered around BP, so it just seemed like one long BP protest, but there was still some interesting original stuff.
Of course, we had to get a famous Nathan's hotdog
The tattoo on the leg of the guy beside us
A woman in the crowd beside us
The Coney Island Museum I guess...we sat in front of it
Santa!
Our favorite guy...he had a cute poodle that matched his beard and a live pigeon in on his head
Lou Reed and his wife were the King and Queen
Some examples of floats and anti-BP stuff, plus the topless people that were everywhere.
My favorite costume of the day...he was one of those scary deep water fish with the light on their heads
This float was dedicated to alien love
A giant sandwich? We think it was to bribe the judges...which is really encouraged
My dad's biggest nightmare?
Sleeping baby. Despite the fact that there are topless girls and scantily clad guys running around, the whole parade is pretty family oriented...kids even march in it!
These little girls were having so much fun dancing and running...they were so cute!
Another favorite
A giant metal rat?
This guys mustache is impressive
Derek's new best friend...who was willing to touch Derek's shark

The Ferris wheel...this was about as close to the broadwalk was we could get. It was way crowded (that is where the parade ended) and we had the dog, so it wasn't worth the trouble.
It was a fun day and super unique and I'm glad we went...one more thing to check off our to do list.
