September 11th, 2009

The weather has been truly awful the past few days and yesterday it reached a peak. The wind was insane and it rained and rained and rained. Derek checked the weather channel to see if there was a hurricane or something going on because it was so crazy windy. It was shaking the wall and window in front of our bed so hard, that our actual bed was shaking.

Every year on Sept. 11th the city lights up two columns of blue lights, where the WTC buildings used to stand. We decided we wanted to go see them from Brooklyn, but because of the rain and clouds, we didn't even head over there until after 10 PM. It was totally worth it though. The sky cleared up a little about 15 minutes after we got there and it was really cool to see the lights.

This was also our first attempt at taking pictures of a city at night. We used the tripod, but it was a little wobbly (my camera doesn't fit on it just right), so these weren't as good as they could be. Of course, we also didn't really know what we were doing, so that could be the reason as well.

Just another view under the bridge

Trying to take pictures of ourselves in front of the bridge. It didn't work so well and we're either orange or everything is blurry. I think I forgot to change where the camera was focused and I didn't really know what I was doing. We kind of look like we were copied and pasted in front of the bridge. So anyway, feel free to laugh.

(this was actually a cute picture of Derek, minus the weird orange tint)

Excuse my wet jacket (if you can even see the spots in this)...Ari was soaked and shivering, so I was carrying the poor baby.

  2. Lindsay, you did it again, a great story, make us feel that we are there with you. Glad you can be part of such an exciting city even if the weather is lousy, and the people pushy. You both will survive. Loved the orange glow around Derek, looked like an out of space alien sort of creature ... Have a great week and Derek, keep on studying hard, I now have this mantra in my head: My grandson, the admiral. Love Nanny

  3. Well hopefully the admiral part is true and not the alien creature thing. Glad you are enjoying reading the blog and seeing the pictures...Lindsay does a good job, way better than I would by myself.
